About Bardolino Chiaretto

Chiaretto rosé wine is made with Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes – the same ones used to make Amarone. The deep colours and flavours of Amarone comes from the long contact with grape skins, while Chiaretto’s pink colour and light tannin is created by brief contact.

According to legend, the Chiaretto was first produced in the early 1900’s by a lawyer in the Lake Garda region. It became an officially recognized DOC wine in 1968. Chiaretto is produced in Bardolino, where the morainic hillside soil gives it a refreshing acidity and a mineral tones. It has a tannic bite and slightly bitter finish that red-wine lovers will appreciate.  The aromas of Chiaretto include nectarine, strawberry, citrus fruits and wild berry.

Lenotti is among the several producers of Chiaretto in Bardolino. Producers in the region try to farm as organically as possible and are passionate about this treasured local wine.

Chiaretto is a vibrant wine with flavors that serve as an aperitif style rosé, yet it has enough acidity and tannin to stand up to strong-flavored dishes such as pasta with herbs and tomatoes, grilled salmon, prosciutto, and even lamb or veal.
